Using Pinterest and Twitter, I was able to find many relevant ideas and strategies and then organize them into one place using Pinterest, or share them with my Twitter followers. The people that were trying to be kept off were sexual predators that have been registered and caught on other sites before. This law could not be passed because the first amendment right of freedom of expression and speech protects them to stay on social media. Facebook still tries to make it so that sexual predators can not communicate with the younger people that they harass. This is still a work in progress but it is very interesting. I found this article by going to google and typing in Teaching with Social Media. This was one of the top results so I decided to read it and I liked it. Teachers are starting to realize that social media isn't going away and they can actually use it to their advantage. Students can interact and communicate instantly over these websites faster than any teacher can. Students can create group chats and blogs that they can work on and communicate and study through. The writer grasped my attention when he said many Speech Pathologists are turning to Pintrest to get therapy ideas. Initially, I was shocked at this claim, but as he explained it and provided a link to Pintrest, I understood the beneficial aspects Pintrest offers. The author, Maggie McGary, admits that at first glance Pintrest does not appear to be educational in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathologist. In fact, she states that Pintrest was created as a “virtual pinboard that allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. However, she then explains that many speech therapists are pinning creative ideas that are meant to help their fellow colleagues.

After trying trying multiple word combinations in the Google search engine, I found this very fitting article. First, I was amazed to find the possibility of Pinterest being in any way useful for teaching a classroom. My first impression of the site was that it was only good for sharing images of desserts and other feminine things. Add the fact that I know no male who has a Pinterest, and I now have the final picture of what appeal the site holds. This article was my way of discovering the uses behind Pinterest. Although Facebook has been an established form of social l media, I think that they are continually changing in order to better stay "in-touch" with not only the changing technology but changing views. I think that with this mindset I will be apply to apply different forms of social media to my profession. Not only does Facebook give opportunities for young adults to connect to other peers it also give professionals, institutions and employers opportunities to promote their business, ideas, thoughts, research and findings in a way that reaches out to a lot of the community.

I also chose this article because it showed the insight of a person currently in the profession trying to improve. People who are good at their job and what they do are constantly changing and looking for ways to improve.

This article goes to show that professions are constantly changing. Speech pathologists are always looking for new ways to reach students' needs. I've had a twitter account for a couple years now, so I wasn't looking for an article that informed me on the way that the site worked. Goals for Twitter: Immediate: I am going to follow one new person a day that will help me to expand my knowledge and understanding of communication sciences and disorders.

It's not to say that this is how all schools can increase their student base, but it is a method that is becoming more and more relevant in society.
